
High Flight was written by Pilot
Officer John Gillespie Magee, Jr. (1922-1941).
He was an American/British fighter pilot in World War II who went to England,
flew Spitfires with the No. 412 Squadron, Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF),
and was killed at age 19 on December 11, 1941.
